Useful VZCTL commands for use with Virtuozzo 7 VPS
If you are using a hypervisor like SolusVM or Proxmox then you likely won’t need to use the command line much to manage servers on your VPS node. Sometimes it is better to use the command line to manage your servers because any errors that show up will be displayed in the console better enabling you to diagnose issues with containers.
This guide is designed for use with Virtuozzo 7 nodes the commands should work with OpenVZ nodestoo. To use any of the commands in this guide you need root privileges to the host node. Users with root access to a container (guest) cannot use these commands.
You can get a full list of the containers running on your host node by using the vzlist -a command. This will give you the CTID of each container on the node.
With the basic commands now out of the way, you can perform more advanced options from the command line like adding IPs to containers and changing the hostname or root password. In the next table, we provide some of the most command commands we use to manage servers on the network.
